چکیده

Introduction: Trans people represent a vulnerable group, and their health conditions are poorly understood. A trans woman is person who at birth has the biological sex of man, but identifies expresses herself as feminine. Objectives: to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD) its associations with habits body composition in Mexican women (TW). Material methods: cross-sectional study was carried out convenience sample thirty women, residents Toluca City, Mexico. Bone evaluated by densitometry (DXA) electrical bio-impedance, using reference values for Mexican-American men. questionnaire on socio-demographic characteristics, physical activity, health-related habits, use gender-affirmative hormone therapy applied. Results: The mean age participants 28 years (SD = 6.9); 20% had low BMD. Low socioeconomic status related lower BMD hip (p 0.043). heavier bodies higher spine (for weight, p= 0.004; fat mass, p 0.047; fat-free 0.004); furthermore, mass associated 0.050). No statistically significant relationships were found other variables. Conclusions: BMD, which composition. findings suggest that group require design strategies oriented nutrition problems.

Vitamin D receptor gene, biochemical bone markers and bone mineral density in Mexican women on dialysis.

BACKGROUND The influence of the Bsm1 polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene on mineral and bone disorders in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is still under discussion. The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between VDR polymorphism, bone mineral density (BMD), biochemical bone markers and clinical factors in women on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and haemodialysis (HD). [Association of polymorphism TaqI of vitamin de receptor with bone mineral density in young Mexican women].

INTRODUCTION Osteoporosis is a multifactorial disease characterized by a low bone mineral density (BMD). Osteoporosis and the occurrence of fractures in postmenopausal women have been associated to the TaqI polymorphism in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene. OBJECTIVE To analyze the association of the different genotypes of TaqI polymorphism of the VDR gene with BMD in young Mexican women. M...

Bone mineral density in women with depression.

BACKGROUND Depression is associated with alterations in behavior and neuroendocrine systems that are risk factors for decreased bone mineral density. This study was undertaken to determine whether women with past or current major depression have demonstrable decreases in bone density. METHODS We measured bone mineral density at the hip, spine, and radius in 24 women with past or current major...
